Intercontinental Hotels ink Panama franchise deal

News from Panama / Friday, June 10th, 2011

A friend of mine in the hospitality business  sent me a link to this article from Forbes that adds another deal to the growing list of new hotels opening in Panama.

MIAMI — Intercontinental Hotels Group said Thursday it has signed a franchise agreement to bring a new Holiday Inn Express hotel to Panama City, Panama.

The planned, 12-story hotel will have 198 guest rooms and open for business in July 2012, the company said.

The hotel will be owned and managed by Latin American Hospitality Management Inc., a division of Grupo Agrisal, under a license agreement with Intercontinental Hotels.

A hotel in Costa Rica and two others in El Salvador have been opened under the same pact.

The Holiday Inn Express Panama City will be Intercontinental Hotels Group’s 24th hotel in Central America.

The hotel operator already has four hotels in Panama and a fifth under construction.
