Companies Continue to Arrive at Panama Pacifico

I have watched this project since the bidding process where several suitors offered hundreds of millions of dollars for the rights to develop the former US  Howard Air Force base.  A good friend of mine back in Miami lost the bid to London and Regional out of the UK for an amount in excess of $700 Million.  It is now a thriving complex and the list of multinationals is growing rapidly.  There is a fantastic residential component that will make this a City with the City of Panama.  This in from CentralAmericaData.com

BASF and Unilever are two of the companies that have recently joined the list of businesses that are operating in the Panama Pacific Special Economic Area.
Some 80 multinationals are currently operating in the Panama Pacific Special Economic Area (AEPP) and this figure is expected to continue rising, as is the number of new jobs.

The German group BASF and Unilever have recently joined the list of companies that are operating under Act 41 on multinational sites.

The administrator of the SPPD, Olmedo Alfaro said that about 5,000 jobs have been created so far and it is expected that by 2014 there will be 10 thousand workers in the area. Alfaro said that they working to get companies from the developed world installed in the area and that they want them to be anchor companies.
