Panama and Taiwan have signed an agreement for the latter’s donation of an Interceptor 1102 platform for the Central American country, Panama’s Ministry of Public Security (Ministerio de Seguridad Pública: MINSEG) reported on 29 March.

The Interceptor will be utilized by the National Naval Air Service (Servicio Nacional Aeronaval: SENAN) to patrol Colón province, in Panama’s Caribbean side. This is the third Interceptor that Taipei has provided Panama City as part of co-operation agreement ‘Programa Binacional de Cooperación 2014-2019’, MINSEG explained. The delivery date of the new platform has not been disclosed.

Produced by Damen Shipyards Group, the Interceptor 1102 measures 10.97 m, has a top speed of over 55 kts, a crew of two, and space for a boarding crew of four.
