COR donates to UMIP for the use of drones

The COR is an initiative of ARPA, as part of its Blue Seas program, which seeks through a sustainable system of sudden response, to prevent The Operational Response Center (COR) made a donation to the International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP) of inputs for the drones used by this higher education house, in order for them to make their overflights. The delivery was made by the coordinator of the COR, Juan Diego Reyna and the Executive Director of the Association of Panaman Shipowners (ARPA), José Digerónimo. On behalf of UMIP, the Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Civil Engineering, Marilyn Bustamante, as well as professors and students were present.

Reyna pointed out that as a private company it is always important to maintain proactivity and that is why the COR has decided to support the UMIP so that, through these equipment, the university can do field modeling for civil engineering, since drones are a tool that has replaced civil aeronautics, helicopters and aircraft and for the maritime industry it also means: surveillance.

The COR is an the extent possible, any incident or fuel spill that may affect the island of Taboga and its surroundings, and thus contribute to the protection of marine resources and commercial and tourist activities in the region.

In that sense, Reyna added that as COR they are advancing a new research project that will be carried out on the island of flowers and of which they will be providing details soon.
