Christmas parade in Panama City could generate about $20 million

The Mayor’s Office of Panama finalizes details for the Christmas parade to be held this Sunday, December 17, which will feature various attractions for the whole family, said Iván Picota, director of Community Affairs of the Mayor’s Office of Panama.

There will be 12 floats that will be part of this Christmas stop, which starts at 6:00 p.m. and whose public will be able to arrive from 4:00 p.m.

According to Picota, this event will start from the Seafood Market, to the La Democracia park in Paitilla (Florist Park).

He pointed out that the floats are being made by Panamanian designers, there will also be the participation of different national musical bands and a guest international band, a martial band from the Industrial Technical Institute of Facatativá, Colombia.

He added that, there will be approximately 20 delegations that will participate in the parade; in terms of security, there will be about 700 agents from the different security entities, personnel from the National Civil Protection System and medical positions of the Ministry of Health and the Red Cross.

For this activity, it is estimated that 175,000 people will arrive and also be visited by foreign citizens.

Picota clarified that this is not an expense, but an investment, involving about 90 companies, with which they hope to generate about 20 million dollars.

He also stressed that the lighting of lighting in different parks and points of Panama City has been a success.
