The US company Duty Free America, Motta International, the Swiss Dufry Group and the German Heinemann Duty Free plan to participate n the tender being prepared by Tocumen for August this year.

Due to the inclusion on the Clinton List of Waked International, the current concessionaire of the duty free shop in Tocumen, the airport administration was forced to speed up the process to tender commercial spaces, even though the concession only expires in December 2017. Motta Internacional is the other current concessionaire of commercial shops in the terminal.

Joseph Fidanque III, manager of Tocumen, S.A., told Prensa.com that “… they are working on launching the tender on August 15 and announced that four international companies interested in participating in the tender have approached his office. One is the Swiss Dufry group, considered the largest operator of duty free shops in airports around the world, in addition to the German Heinemann Duty Free. Also interested is the US company Duty Free America, which operates in Miami International Airport. In addition, Motta International has also made known its intention to participate. “

“… The idea is to hire two operators, but this time exclude certain brands or products in order to award those contracts separately. Unlike the 2007 tender, Tocumen will increase the percentage of monthly royalties to be paid by new operators, and decrease payments for key holder rights.”
