Panama’s shrimp fishing fleet returns to work

After   a 41-day lay -off  fleet of 80 vessels with a shrimp fishing license  was reactivated on Saturday, October 10 in the Port of Vacamonte, in Arraiján seafarers back to work putting 400 seafarers back to work,

Flor Torrijos, administrator of the  Panama Aquatic Resources Authority (ARAP), said that the entity authorized the departure one day earlier than usual, because on  Sunday  there  is total the quarantine established by the Ministry of Health (Minsa) in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“With the start of this new shrimp fishing season, 400 seafarers began their fishing activity as part of the process of economic reactivation to continue contributing to the country’s economy,” said Augusto Valderrama, head of Agricultural Development,
