More than 250 professionals from the global travel industry – including tour operators from the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia and the Pacific, and suppliers to all destinations in Latin America – have gathered, since last Wednesday, September 21, in the Panamanian capital, to participate in the 44th edition of TravelMart LatinAmerica 2022 (TMLA’22).

Participants in this call, which ends today, Friday, the 23rd, have sought to establish valuable connections and create business opportunities, which will outline the travel route of the region.

With more than 2,000 previously scheduled appointments, the providers have met face to face, during 2 days of special sessions, with buyers of travel and leisure services, seeking to capture their interest and publicize their products, prices and promotions.

“Historically, Panama has been more positioned in business tourism, and through the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan we have been working to position the country as a holiday or leisure destination, especially because of the extraordinary richness and diversity of our culture and nature. TravelMart represents a showcase of enormous potential to promote the country in the vacation tourism segment, highlighting our attractions and competitive advantages,” said the general administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority, Iván Eskildsen.

Fernando Fondevila, general director of PROMTUR Panama, indicated that this meeting “represents a great opportunity to position, among an international audience, the attractions and experiences that differentiate Panama as a destination and that are immersed in the promise of the country’s tourism brand “Panama, Vive por Más”; at the same time it strengthens our positioning as a destination capable of hosting world-class

He also added that this reference event for our industry, “allows Panama to be the epicenter of tourism in the region and to receive delegations from the five continents and international media, to whom we will show in this unbeatable showcase the best of our destination.”

“We are pleased to welcome our partners in the tourism industry to Panama for this first TravelMart LatinAmerica (TMLA’22) “live” since the COVID pandemic. Many delegates are visiting Panama for the first time in many years, and this is an excellent opportunity for them to personally experience everything that this very special destination has to offer,” said Manuel Cuevas, president and CEO of William H. Coleman, Inc., the organizer of TravelMart LatinAmerica.

“TMLA’22” has been developed in Panama at an excellent time in relation to the reactivation of tourism, after the recent announcement of the elimination of all health restrictions for travelers dictated on the occasion of COVID-19, by the National Government. In this way, the country continues to work on its positioning as a safe and reliable tourist destination for all visitors.
