If you have not read this book, I would encourage you to buy a copy and check it out. A friend of mine wrote this and it is an eye opener for many who did not know how Panama was created. I copy the Preface as it starts the whole story well.

I’ve had this book on my shelves for quite a while. It shows the incestuous relationship between the
USA government (spearheaded by a group of Wall Street financiers) and the small group of leading Panamanian
families who depended on the USA while running a not quite independent Panama. This convenient relationship
came to a halt when Omar Torrijos changed the political landscape in Panama and put Panama on a new road to
independence, and complete control over its territory.
Money talked in 1903 and it still does today as we can read in the papers everyday.
