More pets in Panamanian households translate into growth and diversification of the market for products and services for those members of the family.

An article on Panamaamerica.com.pa reports that “… Having a pet as a member of the family is a growing trend in Panamanian homes, which has strengthened and diversified trade for companies that are dedicated to this sector, offering everything from food to funeral services.”

Following a predictable macro trend, the notorious increase in consumption power in Panamanian homes registered in the last decade has enabled the growth of spending on dogs, cats and other small animals that require food, medical care, cosmetic services, and even luxury accessories. Accompanying this change, commercial sectors that serve the public have already started to adopt  “pet friendly” behaviors, allowing their clients to come in accompanied by their pets.

The Panamanian veterinary services sector has responded to this demand, growing and diversifying its offer of products and services.
