Oceanfront Homesite and Sustainable Farm

News from Panama / Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

Click on the picture for a view from the lots that I have listed for sale on this most special place called Isla Boca Brava.

I visited this most incredible place last weekend that my friend owns on Boca Brava Island.  It lies just across Boca Chica harbor.  He has developed a small ferry that allows him to drive down the boat ramp in Boca Chica which is a little over an hour from David, drive onto his ferry and cross to his property on the Island a couple of hundreds yards away.  Here he has about 150 acres of land and a roadway network that allows him to drive off the ferry and across some pastures, through some wooded jungle and arrive at his home.  He has hooked up to the power grid on the mainland and has excellent water service. That is truly styling.  The Home is  a Balinese style  island estate with terraces that open outward from the inside to enjoy the ocean breezes.  The materials are teak from the property, polished concrete that has been pigmented, hand shaped and polished smooth and inlaid with wood and stone as done with old world craftsmanship.  I tell you all of this as part of a story on what you can also build on the lots that I have to offer.  He will supply power, water, road and ferry access and an ocean side pier for your use.  There are only two lots of around 5 acres each and no others will be sold.  Here is what the estate owner has done.

There is as much outdoor living area as there is inside and moonlit nights are special here without the luminescence of the city lights.

Tropical living at it’s best with large spaces, high ceilings to let in light and breezes from the ocean and natural materials from the area all brought together in perfection.

The Estate also has a farm area encompassing around 40 acres.  It is part of the totally sustainable lifestyle enjoyed here.  He has limited, to no non-organic inputs and tries to do without harmful chemicals of any kind.  He sows corn, rice and a number of grasses for silage as well,  He also has  a hen and chicken roost, vegetable and fruit plots and a dairy operation that is all mechanized and modern.   He also has a cheese factory and  produces  artisanal butter, Ricotta and the best Gouda cheese you have ever tasted.  Let’s go down to the farm.

Here you have it, the cheese factory!!

OK, a commercial break for the finished product. Can we say Cheese!!

Well, it was time to leave and we headed down through the rest of the farm to the dock on Boca Chica harbor to catch a boat to take us home.  A sad ending to a wonderful time here. I hope that I can convince my wife to move here.  An Island with the conveniences and proximity to modern services and goods, beautiful oceanfront living and a sustainable farm. If he lets me,  I could work with the owner to further my desires and hobbies of getting back to what is real in the world.  There are only so many years left and you have to stop and smell the cheese at one point in your life!

You have a chance to beat me to it if you can.

Ciao!
