  1. I know that tenders in Tanzania and many African countries often go to Chinese companies as they are always the most competitive. Why? up to 90% of the labour force used are unpaid. They are Chinese prisoners! Who can compete against this modus operandi?

  2. Unfortunately Panama and Latin America is still in need of a lot of infrastructure and has way too much bureaucracy. We have been trying to set up a factory for processing wood into high end furniture in a smaller town about 20 minute for Santiago and have been working with the power company for over a year to hook up the power, as there is endless paper work and approvals before they will supply the electric power we want to buy from them. Being an electrical engineer from the US I can see that the problem is total incompetence on the part of the electric company, or the desire for bribes before they do anything. Meanwhile there are people unemployed in this area where jobs are needed while the government and electric company trips over it’s bureaucracy trying to figure out how to flip the on switch. But the potential is here and a land of great opportunity, just take some time to get some simple things done.
