In recent weeks, interest in the region’s markets for electronic equipment, computers and technological services has clearly picked up, with educational software and computer security services being among the most marked trends.

Using a system that monitors in real time changes in consumer interests and preferences in Central American countries, developed by CentralAmericaData‘s Trade Intelligence Unit, it is possible to project short and long term demand trends for the different products, sectors and markets operating in the region.

In this report we analyze how the interests and preferences of the population of each Central American country in electronic equipment, computers and software have been changing since the first week of March up to date.

When analyzing the Guatemalan market, it can be seen that, of the total products in the Electronics and Computers category, educational software and services for remote access to a virtual private network were the most sought after by consumers. In the case of the latter, the short-term trend is that since mid-January it began to rebound.

In Costa Rica, interactions related to software utilities and computer security were the most popular among consumers. In the case of the Panamanian market, among the main trends were electronic game consoles and electronic accessories.

The Salvadoran market reported that among the trends that have rebounded the most during the weeks of quarantine were network security and programming services, while in Honduras it was reported that it was software utilities.

This tool for monitoring consumer interests in any country in the region allows companies to project demand trends and anticipate changes in the various sectors and categories of products and services. This information system allows for weekly tracking of any product or category, resulting in an extremely valuable input for making business decisions in the new commercial reality.
