Construction: 30 More Days of No Activity

News from Panama / Wednesday, May 6th, 2020

Due to the health emergency, the Ministry of Health of Panama decided to extend the temporary suspension of the construction activity for a 30-day period, under the same terms expressed in Decree 506 of March 24.

Weeks ago, it was reported that starting Wednesday March 25 and for a period of 30 days, Panama decreed the suspension of construction industry activities in projects currently under development in the national territory.

Following the spread of covid-19, health authorities decided to postpone the suspension of the sector, which includes the manufacture, distribution and dispatch of concrete, cement and its derivatives, as well as quarries.

The Ministry of Health will be responsible for authorizing, by means of a ministerial resolution, the reactivation of the operation, activity and mobilization of specific companies that develop and provide services to some public institution, whose temporary suspension is based on executive decrees due to the State of National Emergency.

See Decree 548 of April 24th (in Spanish).
