Panama intensifies vaccination against Covid-19 and other diseases

According to the coordinator of the National Immunization Program (PAI), Yolanda Slocum de Hewith, so far 8,022,785 injections have been administered to fight the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Of this total, 3,459,000 people have received the first dose; 3,630,000 the second dose, and 1,491,000 were immunized with the booster.

In the case of pediatric vaccination (children between 5 and 11 years of age) 385,920 doses have been administered in Panama, accounting for 51.4 percent with the first dose and 44.8 percent with the second dose, according to official data.

Since January 20, 2021, immunization coverage in the target population (over five years of age) is at least 87.1 percent with the first dose; 77 percent with the second shot, and 47.4 percent with booster jabs.
