Yacht racers set sail from Seattle for Panama

Jackie Wyer says goodbye to Patrick Van der Zijden, skipper of the Zhuhai, one of 10 70-foot-long ocean yachts that departed Seattle on Saturday for the next leg of the Clipper Round the World Race. They’ll arrive in Panama in about a month. Van der Zijden, who is Dutch, has logged more than 200,000 nautical miles sailing. Wyer was a crew member on the yacht.

One by one, each of the 70-foot yachts leaves Bell Harbor Marina in Seattle on Saturday to continue the next leg of the Clipper Round the World Race to Panama. More information
