Things To Look For When Investing In Undeveloped Land

I have often discussed the topic of land banking and the reasons are becoming more important as an investment strategy for a portion of your portfolio.  Here is a recent article that I found of interest.

Land banking can be a lucrative investment, especially if you acquire land that could be attractive to future developers. The best land opportunities exist in underdeveloped or under priced areas where infrastructure expansion is underway, the permitting process is easy, attractive amenities already exist and there is the potential for development in the near future.

Land banking is the strategic acquisition of raw land that you hold until an anticipated future event will result in an increase in value.  We have a number of opportunities that we can present in different parts of Panama where we see near term and long term property value enhancement.

The returns can be stratospheric. For example, in the 1970s, you could have picked up beachfront land south of Cancun, Mexico, for a song. And simply waited for the resorts to come in. When they do, you are sitting on pure gold. Cancun wasn’t a one-off. At any given time, there are opportunities just like the Cancun one.  Read more here……
