I watched the news the other night where Lake Affect snow was washing across the States including areas that received up to 4 feet overnight and that is huge for December.  Bet they can’t wait until February rolls around.   My wife is in New York City and she tells me that it is beautiful and sunny and just above freezing.  I remember it well, year after year visiting Manhattan and it is truly beautiful up there this time of year.   However, the end result is usually snow, slush, freezing rain and then hard freezes where you cannot go out for more than 15 minutes or you would suffer frost bite.  Then my daughter who works  in Miami tells me that it is warming up and reached 47 degrees after freeze warnings played out across the northern and central part of Florida!  

 Thanks, but I will take Panama anytime.  We are seeing the end of the green season where we had healthy amounts of rain and now that is abating and the skies are more azure blue than cloudy.  This is Summer time here in Panama and the time to come  if you are contemplating visiting this beautiful country.  Soon we will celebrate the Christmas and New Year’s holidays and then it is vacation time for most of Panama as school is out until March and families are planning trips across the country side.  The beaches are beautiful and the waters are clear and deep blue offshore.  And yes, it is time for big Marlin and Tuna to populate our offshore waters here in the Chiriqui province.   I can’t wait to bring home loads of yellowfin tuna for sushi and grilling parties we will have celebrating the good life!!   

Here in Chiriqui we are seeing a lot of people showing up again this year looking to move to a better place in the sun and I expect we will have another run on housing here in Boquete.  While we are off the boom time highs of 500 closings a year for the mountain towns of Boquete and Volcan as well as the beach and Pacific Ocean communities, there is still a steady stream of homebuyers and they are not looking for second homes but rather permanent residence here in Panama.  Our community of Valle Escondido is sold out and there are only a few resale’s available.
