The “Spirit of Panama” will be the sixth team to make their descent during the four heats of the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championship, currently being held in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

The first heat on Saturday, 26 January 2013, starts at 2:45 am (local Panama time) and it is estimated that at 3:02 am the representatives of Panama will go down the track with their bobsled.

The second heat will begin at 4:35 a.m.

Eduardo Fonseca (pilot) and Jonathan Romero (breakman) will be the members of the the “Spirit of Panama” team to compete in the first two heats.

The next day, on Sunday the 27th, the third heat will begin at 3:00 am and the fourth at 5:00 am (local).

“We are very happy to have reached the World Championship because from the beginning this was our dream, and we have achieved that dream,” said Panamanian team member Chris Zollinger.

“We cannot hope for a medal because we still need two years of practice, but what I do expect is a good time on the course of the track. Tonight we will go to sleep very early,” he said.

Some 37 teams will participate in the global competition and there is much expectation, especially from those who closely follow the team’s participation.

“We are in a world championship with the best in the world, in which there are a total of 37 teams, and that’s already winning. The “Spirit of Panama” will give their best as a team,” said the the TVMax journalist David Salayandía, who is in St. Moritz to cover events in this international event. (TVN)
