I am not sure if I want to see feedlot raised cattle on the grocery shelf.  Healthy is one thing but pumped full of antibiotics is another.  That is the only way to keep cattle alive  in that type of operation.

Paraguayan exporters have requested health permits to sell meat to Panama, from where they plan to redistribute it to other countries in the region.

Currently a sanitation mission from Panama is inspecting the health system and industrial facilities in Paraguay, which has the advantage of having authorization to export to the European Union. This certification would facilitate the process of obtaining permits in Central America.

Hugo Idoyaga, president of the National Quality and Animal Health Service in Paraguay, told Elnuevodiario.com.ni that “… ‘Panama may have more or less rigorous health checks, but we have a significant level and the fact that we are in the European Union obviously means that the standard of work in the productive sector is high, this helps us a lot.'”

“… The EU opened its markets to Paraguayan meat products in April, after four years of absence due to the appearance of two outbreaks of foot and mouth disease. Paraguay currently has a production of 550,000 tonnes of beef, of which 390,000 tonnes are exported to various countries. ”
