Panama to Purchase Laptops for $23.3 Million

Panama has pledged to improve the educational systems here in Panama and I hope that there is some good follow up to this measure as it is sure to help out, as long as these computers land  in the hands where they are most needed, the kids.

The Ministry of Education has issued a tender for the purchase of 93,500 laptops.

The acquisition of laptops is for a government initiative called “Provision of Educational Laptops to Students – Spreading the Technology.”
Detailed technical specifications:

Equipment Format: Clamshell

Processor: Dual Core Atom, N550, 1.5 GHz

Main Memory: Minimum 2 GB DDR3 800/1067

Internal hard disk capacity: 250GB Minimum

Deadline for submission of bids is 30 November 2011.
