Panama: Tender of Faculty of Medicine to be Held in April

The University of Panama has announced that it will be launching a tender in April for the construction of classrooms, laboratories and equipment, which will be financed with $70 million.

Authorities at the Ministry of Health in Panama received on Monday the document for the development of the specifications for the tender for the design and construction of a new Faculty of Medicine at the University of Panama.

Enrique Mendoza, dean of the faculty, told prensa.com that the public act will be convened for next April and that the work should be operational in late 2018. As reported last November , the building will be erected on an area of 5.5 hectares in Chivo Chivo, Ancon, in the district of Panama City.

The plan is to construct two halls, a cafeteria, a virtual library, staff room, classrooms for physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, preventive medicine, social and family studies. In addition the building will have biochemical laboratories, nutrition, pharmacology, and clinical laboratories, a student center, research and graduate department and about 521 parking spaces. “
