Panama’s plan for a much improved wastewater treatment system for the city includes a huge investment as the next step was announced.  Three business groups submitted proposals to build and operate for ten years the second module of the wastewater treatment plant in the city of Panama.

The three groups who submitted technical and financial proposals were: the consortium Acciona PTAR Juan Diaz, the consortium Suez, which is part of the construction company Odebrecht , and OTV CQV – Meco.

The contract includes the construction, operation and maintenance of the plant, whose first module is currently being operated by the firm Suez, one of the bidders in the tender. This first phase of the plant was built by Odebrecht.

Prensa.com reports that “… Once the consortium selected, it is estimated that the order to proceed will be delivered in March 2016 and construction will take about 36 months. ”

“… De Janón said that this project will help the Basic Health Plan 100/0, as the expanded plant will treat wastewater twice, in other words it will go from processing 2.75 cubic meters per second to 5.3 cubic meters per second. “
