Panama: Construction Increased 11% in 2017

Last year, the value of new construction, additions and repairs totaled $2.142 billion, 11% more than in 2016.

The most recent figures from the Comptroller General of the Republic show that the highest value of new construction, additions and repairs was registered in the district of Panama, with a total of $1.511 billion. They were followed by Arraiján, with $170 million, Colón, with $154 million, La Chorrera, with $147 million, David, with $97 million, and Santiago, with $32 million.

Regarding the type of construction, the highest value was recorded in residential projects, with a total of $1.337 billion, 12% more than in the previous year. This was followed by non-residential projects, with $804 million, 11% more than was reported in 2016.
