Panama: $95 million for Sanitation Works

With funding from the Development Bank of Latin America a wastewater treatment system will be built in the communities of Burunga and Arraijan Cabecera.

From a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance:

The Board of the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) has approved a loan to the Republic of Panama for 95 million dollars for the construction, operation and maintenance of integrated collectors, sewage networks and pumping stations for a wastewater treatment system in the communities of Burunga and Arraiján Cabecera.

The wastewater treatment system for these communities is part the Project for the Sanitation of the City and Bay of Panama, which is being run by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

This project will benefit 83,100 inhabitants in both districts and will allow for the development of 250 kilometers of pipeline, including networks and collectors.
The project has four components: Sewers, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Institutional Strengthening and Feasibility Study for Panamá Oeste and Administration.
