Panama: $70 million for University Building

The Faculty of Medicine will be built on a plot of 5.5 hectares and the Ministry of Health will oversee the tender of the architectural design drawings, construction, and equipment.

$70 million has been approved to build and equip the new Faculty of Medicine of the University of Panama. The funds will be administered by the Ministry of Health (MOH), which must launch a tender for architectural plans using the concept of educational hospital architecture, to reflect the new trends in health architecture.

From a statement issued by the Presidency of Panama:

The Government of the Republic of Panama through the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the University of Panama (UP) has agreed to the construction and equipping of the new Faculty of Medicine of this house of higher learning.

To fulfill this purpose, the central government approved an amount of up to 70 million dollars, funds which will be administered by the Ministry of Health for the execution of civil works and equipment of the new Faculty of Medicine; to be built in an area of ??approximately 5.5 hectares in the area of ??Chivo Chivo, province of Panama.
