Martinelli Insists on Land Sales

The Panamanian President indicated that the recommendations of the National Coalition for Development on the subject are not binding.

Amongst the National Coalition for Development’s recommendations, what the Panamanian government will comply with is not selling state shares in power and telephone companies.

Regarding the land in Arrayan, which has a combined value of nearly $168 million, according to Cabinet Resolution No.59 published in the Official Gazette the following was resolved:

That the Interinstitutional Commission for the Administration of Reverted Properties in a regular session held on October 10, 2011 and January 19, 2012, recommended to the Minister of Economy and Finance, to proceed with the sale by public auction of the following property, located in the area of Altos de Bátele, district of Veracruz, Arrayán district, province of Panama … ”

In relation to land in Veracrus, Farfan and Amador, which has a combined value of nearly $81 million, according to Cabinet Resolution No.60 published in the Official Gazette the following was resolved:

“That the Commission for the Administration of Reverted Properties in a meeting held on March 12, 2012, recommended that the Minister of Economy and Finance, proceed to sell individually or collectively, by public auction, ” six plots in Veracruz, one in Farfan, and one in Amador.
