Holidays During the Month of November in Panama

News from Panama / Saturday, October 28th, 2023

As per the guidelines outlined in our Labor Code, the upcoming obligatory rest days recognized as either national holidays or days of national mourning are as follows:

Friday, November 3rd: This is a national holiday, and as such, it constitutes a mandatory paid day off. Employees working on this day are entitled to a 150% pay premium, along with the requirement to be granted a compensatory rest day during the same week, with the payment for this day included in the aforementioned premium. Should an employee work on the compensatory rest day, their compensation for that day will include a 50% additional pay.

Saturday, November 4th: This day retains its status as a regular working day for those with a typical work schedule from Monday to Saturday.

Sunday, November 5th: Designated as a national holiday, work performed on this Sunday is subject to a 150% pay premium. In this case, the weekly rest day is shifted to Monday, November 6th. Consequently, work on that Monday is compensated with a 50% surcharge, and another day within the week may be granted as a compensatory rest day. If an employee works on the compensatory rest day, their payment for that day will include a 50% additional pay.

Friday, November 10th: This date is treated in the same manner as November 3rd, as previously explained.

Tuesday, November 28th: Recognized as a national holiday, mandatory rest is required on this day. Employees working on November 28th are entitled to a 150% pay premium. Furthermore, they may be granted another day within the week as a compensatory rest day, with the payment included in the premium mentioned earlier. If work is performed on the compensatory day, the salary for that day will include a 50% additional pay.
