The City of Health, an impressive hospital infrastructure that redefines health care standards, will be delivered in its entirety on January 17, benefiting the insured population with first-world facilities and cutting-edge technology.

The general director of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Dr. Enrique Lau, assured that this great work will represent a milestone in the health sector in Panama. The award ceremony will be attended by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, and the director of the institution, Lau Cortés.

The City of Health houses 4 highly complex hospitals, 5 institutes, 4 specialized centers, an endoscopy center, 1,064 beds, 51 operating rooms, 189 intensive care units and 67 semi-intensive units. Using state-of-the-art technology, more than 100 robotic surgeries have been successfully performed in these facilities.

Dr. Lau Cortés stressed the importance of this delivery, stating: “We are providing Panamanians with sanitary facilities that place us at the forefront in the Latin American region.”

One of the highlights is the High Complexity Pediatric Hospital, designed as an amusement park with play areas on each floor of hospitalization, adorned with children’s stories and a carousel.

Lau explained that the focus has been focused on creating a friendly environment for children, avoiding white walls and encouraging joy with the presence of clowns. Dr. Lau Cortés emphasized that all the details have been taken into account to ensure that the children feel comfortable and happy during their stay in the hospital.
