With a view to expanding routes and positioning Panama as a world-class tourist destination, the company Air Panama announced the reactivation of its direct flights between Panama City and the district of Pedasí, in the province of Los Santos, with a frequency of 3 weekly flights (Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday) round trip.
For these flights, the airline will use Caravan aircraft, with a capacity of 12 passengers and in the future it is planned to expand the number of seats to 50 passengers.
“With this new frequency, Pedasí will be promoted as an outstanding tourist destination, which has established itself as a true paradise for tourism, with incredible relaxation sites that combine ecotourism and culture. This district represents one of the greatest treasures of Panama, considered a hidden gem,” said Captain Gustavo Pérez Morales, director of the Civil Aeronautical Authority.
He explained that the runway of the Capitán Justiniano Montenegro regional airport is in optimal condition for the operations that are being carried out and there are all the regulations, for the maneuvers of the planes that Air Panama will use, to reactivate its flights to this district.
For his part, the general administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), Iván Eskildsen, said that: “we are increasingly motivated to connect the priority destinations of the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan (PMTS), in this case the district of Pedasí, one of the fastest growing destinations based on the richness and diversity of beach, nature and culture experiences. We congratulate Air Panama on this great step.”
He added that the reactivation of flights expands the possibility that Pedasí will receive more tourists and that international tour operators from Colombia, Canada, Spain, among other countries, will build packages in which this destination is included. ” By shortening the arrival times, it favors the time of stay of tourists at the destination,” he said.
The president of the company Air Panama, Eduardo Stagg, said that “the vision and mission of Air Panama is to offer the necessary air service, to meet the demand of visitors to national tourist destinations, as well as to contribute to the development of these communities.”
Pedasí is one of the priority tourist centers of the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan (PMTS) 2020 – 2025, in which through the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Tourist Cabinet, investments amounting to 25 million are executed in road projects, tourist facilities and public services such as: electricity, waste collection and drinking water supply.
he PMTS highlights the need to improve connectivity between tourist destinations that have been identified as priorities.
The offer of activities is very attractive in Pedasí, where the visitor can spend a day at the beach on the beautiful Iguana island of crystal clear waters or do sighting of turtles and whales, since the place is a refuge for wildlife.
The town of Pedasí, with its beautiful colorful houses, has a very varied gastronomic and tourist offer and, at the same time, combines with the Panamanian country atmosphere, which is recognized as a multicultural district.
