News from Panama / Monday, September 25th, 2017

The new maritime single window promises to speed up the transshipment process, improve port exit times and reduce the use of paper through a digital system.

From a statement issued by the Panama Canal Authority:

From today, the Panama Maritime Single Window (VUMPA) will operate for ships arriving as of Sunday, September 24, according to Jorge L. Quijano, Canal administrator.

The official launch ceremony, held at the Canal Administration Building, was chaired by AMP administrators Jorge Barakat and Jorge L. Quijano. This is a joint initiative by the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) and the AMP, with the support of other national entities, whose purpose is to provide maritime customers with a more efficient system, improving the processes of reception, stay and setting sail.
