Donald Trump to help burn another mortgage

By: Paola Iuspa-Abbott

One of Donald Trump’s South Florida successes is his licensing partnership with the Dezer family in Sunny Isles Beach back in Florida

About eight years ago, the Dezers obtained the right to use Trump’s name on their three-tower Trump Grande Ocean Resort and Residences. The $750 million project was completed in 2008 and — despite the real estate meltdown — is substantially sold out.

Trump is going to be in town on Jan. 7 to help Michael Dezer and son Gil Dezer celebrate the payoff of the $210 million loan that funded construction of the 384-unit Trump Royale, the third tower in the Trump Grande complex.

The planned ceremony recalls Trump’s 1986 burning of a mortgage after the developer and others helped pay off the loan of a Georgia woman whose family farm faced foreclosure. The ceremony was staged at Manhattan’s Trump Hotel.
