Panama and JICA sign loan agreement for US$1.036 million for Metro Line 3

For an approximate amount of US$1,036 million (159.496 million yen) the Republic of Panama and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), signed the third loan agreement for the continuation of the construction of Line 3 of the Panama Metro.

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Felipe Chapman on the conditions of the loan, commented that although some details are still missing to be agreed with JICA, the conditions are extremely favorable, with comfortable terms and a preferential interest rate, which is of great value for the country.

For his part, the General Director of the Panama Metro, Cesar Pinzón, indicated that this support is essential for the development of Metro Line 3, and will contribute to materializing the shared vision of a more advanced and sustainable city.

Meanwhile, the ambassador of Japan in Panama, Kazuyoshi Matsunaga, highlighted the importance of collaboration between the two countries, underlining that Panama is growing rapidly and highlighting Japan’s role in the country’s development.

Metro Line 3 will connect Panama City with the province of Panama West, benefiting thousands of residents in one of the areas of highest population growth in the country, in addition, the work currently generates employment for approximately 4,000 employees, which contributes significantly to the economic growth of the country.
