Panama will host in November the World Robotics Olympics (WRO 2023), which will be held at the Panama Convention Center and the Latin American Astronomy and Astronautics Olympiad (OLAA 2022-2023), which will take place in the province of Chiriquí in October.
With these two international events dedicated to the promotion of education in science and technology, Panama reaffirms its position as a venue for world-class events.
These activities will promote research and space sciences in Panama, promote cooperation, research and development of innovative technologies, and strengthen the promotion of knowledge of astronomy, aviation, astronautics and space exploration.
The event will bring together young national and 150 international talents, from 20 Latin American countries: Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Fernando Fondevila, CEO of the Tourism Promotion Fund (PROMTUR) Panama, indicated that this meeting not only strengthens the country’s position as a host of world-class events, but also leaves a cultural, scientific and educational legacy in the Panamanian community.
For her part, Dr. Madelaine Rojas, executive director of the National Center for Space Sciences of Panama (CENACEP) pointed out that the Olympiad is an event without equal, with exciting challenges, revealing knowledge and significant connections, which brings the world of space sciences closer.
“CENACEP, within the framework of this event, has organized activities related to astrotourism, cosmonautics and aerospace technology in different parts of the country, in favor of decentralizing opportunities in this sector,” Rojas said.
