Authorization has been given for the sale of 52,800 m² of land in the Amador Causeway, which was repossessed from the businessman Jean Figali in 2009.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) will auction off “in a single act or individually, plots where Figali erected a convention center, among other facilities,” reported Prensa.com.
The lands formerly belonging to Figali were repossessed because of arrears in payments in excess of $29 million, a debt that was accumulated over a number of years.
The proceeds from the sale of land, valued at $81 million, will go directly to the National Treasury.
