On February 21, 2024, the dome of the Dr. Harmodio Arias Madrid university campus, of the University of Panama (UP), will host the first presidential debate ahead of the general elections of May 5, 2024.

The UP will organize the debate, the logistics and everything that the issue entails together with the Electoral Tribunal (TE), news managers and the technical team of TVN Media – the media responsible for the production and transmission of the debate – announced in a press release.

They said that next December, the TE will have all the candidacies, which will allow to know how many presidential candidates will participate in that The TE will promote and regulate three televised debates, among all the presidential candidates, which will be broadcast at no cost by television and radio, except for the production that will be covered by the TE in accordance with article 275 of the Electoral Code.
