The United States Department of Defense, through the United States Embassy in Panama, formally delivered 63 jeep-type all-terrain vehicles to the Ministry of Public Security.
The J8 model vehicles valued at 5 million dollars were delivered on the morning of Thursday, May 25, to the facilities of the National Border Service.
In addition, of the 63 vehicles, 3 million dollars in spare parts were delivered.
“These jeeps are the largest donation of vehicles that the United States Department of Defense has made to date to the Republic of Panama,” said the United States ambassador to Panama, Mari Carmen Aponte, during the ceremony.
We want to support Panama’s efforts in the fight against organized crime, the trafficking of migrants and threats to the security of our countries and our people,” the diplomat added.
With this delivery, the United States supports Panama’s efforts to maintain the state’s presence throughout its territory, particularly in hard-to-reach areas.
