News from Panama / Tuesday, May 28th, 2019

Over the next four years, the country seeks to focus on attracting tourists between the age of 40-70 who are interested in environmentally “sustainable” destinations.

The project, which aims to position Guatemala internationally as a destination for this profile of tourists, is developed by Regenera, a non-governmental organization of Chile, and the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (INGUAT).

Among the main objectives is the definition of five routes in the country that are framed in the category of sustainable tourism, so that visitors can make a trip that is certified as sustainable.

Leonardo Latorre Melín, executive director of Regenera, explained to Prensalibre.com that “… Guatemala has areas of opportunity that should be exploited more like the natural wealth of the territory, historical and cultural heritage, adventure activities, gastronomy, infrastructure for tourism, transportation and security.

The article adds that “… The document should include topics such as human resource management, sustainability, storytelling, security, script; in other words, how it is going to be presented, always thinking about that tourist potential that we want to address at the international level. The proposal should also be complemented with the Guatemalan tour operator itself, how it should be declared and organized, so that it can be presented at international fairs.
