US Air Force Panama Strengthens SENAN Through Training Mission

Ten advisers from the US Air Force Panama, part of the 571st Mobility Support Advisory Squadron (MSAS), were deployed from March 7 to 28. Their mission supported the National Aeronaval Service (SENAN) through a multifaceted training initiative under a long-term military partnership in Panama. This effort aimed to bolster US-Panama defense cooperation, improve regional stability, and strengthen bilateral ties.

Specialized Training for SENAN Air Command

On March 12, 2025, SENAN pilots and technicians in Panama City participated in hazardous materials transport training. This hands-on session was led by experts from the 571st MSAS, a critical component of the US Air Force Panama’s regional support strategy.

Courses Conducted Across Panama’s Strategic Air Bases

From Panama Pacific and Tocumen air bases, the US Air Force Panama team delivered six tailored courses. These covered flight safety, aircraft maintenance, warehouse optimization, and HAZMAT protocols—reinforcing shared security priorities across the hemisphere and deepening the military partnership in Panama.

Advancing SENAN’s Operational Capacity

The team implemented a custom cargo checklist and led dual HAZMAT courses. These efforts improved SENAN’s logistics, supported anti-trafficking operations, and helped secure over $270 billion in annual maritime trade through the Panama Canal—underscoring the strategic role of the US Air Force Panama.

Enhancing Flight Safety and ISR Maintenance

A newly formed nine-member flight safety unit benefited from risk management guidance. ISR aircraft maintenance advisors from the 571st MSAS provided technical instruction, increasing mission readiness and expanding Panama’s air domain capabilities.

Strengthening Long-Term US-Panama Military Cooperation

Captain Carlos Valdivia of the US Air Force Panama emphasized the mission’s role in building trust and capability. Lieutenant Colonel Mary L. Bordelon praised the team’s contribution to strengthening SENAN’s response to regional threats, reaffirming the long-term vision of this vital military partnership in Panama.
