Tender for Line 3 of Panama Metro

Specifications are being published for the design, construction of civil works, auxiliary installations, supply and installation of an integral system that includes monorail rolling stock for the third Line.

According to details of previous studies, Line 3 of the Panama Metro will be located between the provinces of Panama and Panama West, covering part of the districts of Panama and Arraiján, running through an area that incorporates seven towns. The total area of influence of the project (directly and indirectly) is 1808.570 hectares, in which the area of direct influence occupies an estimated 160,697 hectares, while the area of indirect influence is 1647.873 hectares.”

The project includes construction of the line itself and 14 elevated stations spread over approximately 26.5 km, which includes connection to the train yard and workshops area, which will be located in the Ciudad del Futuro area (Hato Montaña), where maintenance activities will take place, trains will be parked, cars washed, tires changed, and there will be space for storing beams and rails, administrative offices, and other things.”

The statement details that ” … all stations will have spaces for bus and taxi stops. In the stations where a significant volume of changeovers from public transport buses is expected, the plan is to establish larger interchanges (Albrook, Panama Pacifico, Loma Cova, Burunga, Nuevo Chorrillo, Cáceres, Vista Alegre and Ciudad del Futuro).

The document adds that ” … Line 3 of the Panama Metro should have an initial capacity to transport at peak time up to 18 thousand passengers per hour per direction and should be designed for a capacity of 30 thousand passengers per hour per direction.
