Last year Susie and I visited Chile briefly and then traveled to Buenos Aires in Argentina. Next, we headed south to Patagonia where we stayed in Bariloche, a world renowned lake side ski town. This year we travel south in Chile to Patagonia where we are just two mountains over from Bariloche across the Andes. I am really stoked to be there in Spring as opposed to the Winter months we traveled last year. The video above is of a town called Pucon on Lake Villarrica. This is where we chose to stay for one of two weeks we travel this year so we could explore the lake region. Yes, that is a live volcano, one of two we visit on this trip!!
But first, we start our adventure in Puerto Montt which is a port City where the Pan American Highway ends and you can embark on a cruise to Antarctica or drive on the Carretera Austral down to the ends of the earth!!
So, it is back down to eat some of the best seafood in the world in the port of fishers.
While I want to go further south one day, this time of year it is still like winter the further you venture south. So for now, Torres del Paine will be on the bucket list for another trip, probably in the summer months of December or January.
No trip to Chile would be complete without time in wine country so yes, we are going to the heart of the central valley wine region and staying in Colchagua Valley in a little town called Santa Cruz. This is where I could see living if I ever left Panama. Sssh, Susie is listening!!
Susie and I will be away from October 15th to the 31st and I will pick up once again with The Panama Perspective when we return.
