Siemens wins further Panama gas-fired plant deal

News from Panama / Monday, November 19th, 2018

Siemens has won a long-term service and maintenance agreement for a gas-fired power plant in Panama.

The deal comes after Siemens earlier this year secured the contract to provide six of its SGT-800 gas turbines to the new project – marking the first order for this type of unit from Panama.

The service and maintenance agreement was signed with independent power producer Shanghai Gorgeous Group, through its subsidiary Sinolam Smarter Energy, which is the Panamanian end user of the project.

Siemens’ said its service and maintenance programme “will provide a high degree of availability and performance through pro-active planning, based on continuous monitoring and remote support. It represents another milestone in Siemens continued support of the energy infrastructure in Latin America.”

Tim Frace, vice-president of Siemens Power Generation Services in Latin America, said: “As Panama works to strengthen its energy infrastructure, the continued reliability of Sinolam Smarter Energy power plants is of vital importance.”

The plant will operate on liquefied natural gas and commissioning of the power block is due in 2020.
