The office in charge of the Sanitation Project of the City and Panama Bay is working on the feasibility studies to build a sewage system in the area of Arraiján and La Chorrera.  This area has been experiencing explosive growth and the Nation is smart to try to get ahead of the continued wave of growth here.

This new sanitation system will be built as a project separate from the Panama City Project and will include, as does the other project, a treatment plant, an interceptor system, collectors and sewage networks. According to figures presented by the office in charge of the works “…The preliminary estimate of investment in the first phase is $600 million, and the works should be starting in 2017. ”

The office in charge of the Sanitation Project of the City and Bay of Panama, led by Tatiana de Hanun, announced in an article in Prensa.com that “… The first step will be a new system in Burunga, Arraiján district, and for which funding was obtained and studies and basic designs were tendered. ”

From Hanun announced that, as part of the recovery plan for Bay of Panama, critical issues have been identified in the river Matasnillo, for which a “project to repair and improve the sewer system and collection of Matasnillo” was included. “… ‘We are already developing the specifications for improvement works’ … “.
