My good friend James Wiese has been passionate about initiating interest and following up on recovery efforts of a US Navy warbird that crashed deep in the jungles of Panama.
The latest–The recovery team has returned from their trek into the steaming jungle of central Panama and confirmed the identity of the plane as that of the missing U.S. Navy A-6,Raygun 503..
It is now considered an active investigation and details will be slow in coming until the discovery/recovery effort is complete..
The next step is to clear an acceptable HLZ out of the dense primary jungle for helicopter entry/exit..and an onsite camp to house the DPAA search and forensic personel..
DPAA team of Forensic investigators made it to the crash site of the long lost A-6 “RAYGUN 503”.
Our local support team, lead by Rick Doubek has put the DPAA folks at the trail head in the jungle near Santa Fe and established a base camp at La Yeguada to manage SAT communications, ground transportation and logistics for the recovery effort.
The DPAA forensic experts will now begin the long and delicate process of finding the remains of the missing crew and returning them to their loved ones back in the United States …..let’s “Bring em home” !!!
