MiBus, the public transport concessionaire in Panama City, announced the incorporation of 130 new Metrobus units, bringing the total number of buses in circulation to 730. It is expected that in October the fleet will reach 900 units, compared to the 600 that operated three weeks ago.

During an event for the Driver’s Day at the MiBus Operation Center in San Miguelito, the Minister of the Presidency, Juan Carlos Orillac, expressed his gratitude to the drivers on behalf of President Mulino and lamented the recent accident in Villa Zaíta. The General Manager of MiBus, Carlos Sánchez Fábrega, also offered his condolences to the victim’s family.

The event included a tribute to the 10 oldest MiBus operators and a visit by Minister Orillac to the maintenance workshop and the MiBus Control Center. Currently, the company has 1,400 buses and 2,649 operators. Since its inception 13 years ago, MiBus has traveled 1,010 million kilometers.
