Regarding this, the director of the Audit Committee of the Odecabe, José Sosa, expressed his satisfaction with the work done so far, while the president of the organizing committee, Henry Pozo, assured the nation is ready to celebrate a great sports festival in the region.
For these competitions, Panama plans the construction of an aquatic center with two swimming pools, another racket court, two sport centers for volleyball and fighting disciplines and an exclusive stadium for athletics, among other works.
In December 2015, the representatives of the 25 federations of the Olympic Committee of Panama endorsed the request of the capital’s mayor José Blandón for the capital to be one of the aspirants to the great sports event, venue that was granted in February 2017.
‘(…) the Municipality of Panama has resources and will adapt facilities complying with the necessary dimensions. We will work with the central government that is already aware of the event,’ Blandón said at the time.
An Olympic village will not be built, but the 27 delegations will stay in hotels, while the budget for the event will be 200 million dollars.
