Please help save Latin America’s rain forests.

News from Panama / Thursday, September 1st, 2011

As I am a reader of Alternative Latin Investor, I was sent this plea and I intend on joining up with them in their efforts and that of Cuipo to save Latin America’s rain forests.   I ask that you consider this as well.  Here is their story.

Please join Alternative Latin Investor and Cuipo to help save Latin America’s rain forests.

What is Cuipo?

An environmental social enterprise whose aim is to protect and preserve the world’s endangered rainforest by allowing people the opportunity to adopt parcels of the rainforest in meter increments.

Why save the Rainforest?

  • 20% of the world’s oxygen comes from the rainforest (one out of every five breaths).
  • 50% of the Earth’s plants, animals, and microorganisms live in the rainforest.
  • 70% of the plants used in medicine come from the rainforest.

How Cuipo Works?

The Cuipo Initiative pools the contributions of individuals and corporate partners and purchases large swaths of untouched land, and then, as it becomes “adopted,” Cuipo donates 100% of that land to its fully funded, nonprofit – 501(c) 3 – foundation, A Meter at a Time, whose responsibility is to protect, preserve and educate.

To date, Cuipo.org has already saved more than 13 million square meters (roughly 5 square miles) of pristine rainforest in Central Panama.

How can I adopt a parcel of the rainforest?
