Panama’s president Juan Carlos Varela opened on Tuesday his country’s stand at the 36th Havana International Trade Fair (FIHAV 2018) as part of the official visit program to Cuba.
Varela, accompanied by Cuban Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca noted the attendance of Panamanian companies at the largest stock exchange on the island in pursuit of increased trade between both nations.
Likewise, the Panamanian dignitary expressed his respect to the process of socioeconomic update in which Cuba is immersed, by asserting that the bilateral relations between both countries are strengthened every day and the friendship ties are historical.
Panama has always been close to Cuba as fraternal countries and peoples. Cuba and its revolution have always been important to Panama, he said.
Referring to this FIHAV edition, Varela mentioned that this is one of the most important fairs in Latin America and the Caribbean and Panamanian companies from several sectors of the economy with great potential in tourism participate.
According to his statements, air connectivity between the two countries is good with seven daily flights that, he said, should increase.
For his part, Cuban Minister stated that Panamanian stand has a good representation of companies, which is a tradition in the fair and the economic and commercial relationship between both countries goes very well and has potential for further development.
