Panama’s Commerce Portfolio and UNDP evaluate modernizing processes

This collaboration is part of the support initiatives that UNDP provides to the MICI, in order to promote strategic actions such as the attraction of foreign direct investment and the facilitation of trade and industry. These actions are aligned with the government plan of President José Raúl Mulino, which seeks to strengthen the economy and generate more employment.

The Minister of Trade and Industries of Panama (MICI), Julio Moltó, met with representatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in a session in which both parties reaffirmed their commitment to institutional strengthening and modernization, as reported by this portfolio in a press release.

This collaboration is part of the support initiatives that UNDP provides to the MICI, in order to promote strategic actions such as the attraction of foreign direct investment and the facilitation of trade and industry. These actions are aligned with the government plan of President José Raúl Mulino, which seeks to strengthen the economy and generate more employment.

During the meeting, both parties agreed to continue collaborating in key areas such as institutional modernization and the development of advanced technological tools. These tools seek to automate services, optimize processes and ensure that the MICI is more transparent, efficient and close to the citizenry, in line with the commitment of Minister Julio Moltó from the beginning of his management.

“With the support of UNDP, we are moving forward in the modernization of the MICI, and in strengthening our economy and improving the transparency and efficiency of our institutions,” the minister said.

Likewise, it was agreed to place special emphasis on strengthening institutional and the private sector by creating technical capacities that allow a more effective response to the country’s needs.
