Panama will be present at the international sailing boat championship

Every year the international class of dinghy boat, Optimist, develops a tournament that is fundamental for those who wish to aspire to compete in the annual world championship of this discipline and Panama will again have a representative, in the Optimist Championship of North America. 

It is Ion Lowy, a 14-year-old who was already part of the tournament in 2022 and who is consolidated as “I am proud to compete again for Panama in this important race, for which I have prepared under the guidance of the coach at Sea Masters Academy Panama, Guillermo Gasperi, who will accompany me in this event” 

The tournament will take place from July 2 to 9 in Antigua and Barbuda and will have the participation of 124 athletes, representatives from 13 countries. Antigua has already hosted these competitions twice and in 2019, it received the world championship, in which 65 nations attended. 

The North American tournament is one of the six continental events promoted by the International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA).
